THE latest batch of Royal Marines returned to Norton Manor Camp this afternoon following their six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Two bus loads of Commandos arrived at the Norton Fitzwarren base early in the afternoon, when they were greeted by family and friends.

They had earlier flown into RAF Brize Norton.

Wives, partners parents, brothers, children and friends were there to greet them.

The first members of 40 Commando returned last Wednesday, with more returning on Friday.

The last of the 650 Marines who have been in the Sangin area of Helmand province are due back before the end of the month.

The homecomings are tinged with sadness as 14 members of 40 Commando and seven other servicemen on operations with them were killed during the tour.
