A BURNHAM pensioner has made a remarkable 3,000-mile journey from Portugal to Weston - on a 'chicken chaser' vintage vehicle.
Keith Saunders, 67, from Channel Court, and brother-in-law Peter Clarke, 71, have made the trip on their 'Strolling Bones Charity Tour' to raise funds for the Children's Hospice South West.
Using just three-wheeled 'chicken chasers' - which have an engine smaller than most lawnmowers - the two have camped each night on their European adventure.
The tour took them through Portugal and Spain, over the Pyrenees and through France, where they boarded the ferry in Roscoff and headed for Plymouth.
Once back in Blighty, they travelled to Okehampton, Barnstaple, Minehead and Burnham before reaching their final destination.
The two set off in June and were cheered back into Weston yesterday (Wednesday) as charity heroes, having raised around £3,000.
Keith's daughter Dale told the Weekly News: “I am massively proud of what my father has achieved - I could not wait to see him again.
“They have seen so many places and met so many interesting people - and raised money for a great cause.”
