Evacuations after gas leak in Wellington
RESIDENTS were evacuated from their homes after a gas leak in Wellington during the early hours of the morning.
Wales and West utilities called the fire service to an empty property in Barn Meads Road at 10pm last night.
Crews confirmed there was a strong smell of gas and gained access to the property – while around 20 people from six neighbouring properties were evacuated.
The gas board dug a hole in the ground and by 12.30am had successfully isolated the leak.
