Bridgwater Town's hopes of Zamaretto Premier Division football next season were ended by Cirencester Town in a play-off final thriller at Fairfax Park this afternoon.

The Gloucestershire side scored the winning goal in the second period of extra-time.

Graham Mercieca had put Bridgwater ahead after 28 minutes but Brown equalised for Cirencester five minutes before half-time.

The visitors then went ahead for the first time, through Etheridge on 56 minutes, but goals from Ben Kirk and Marcus Duharty had the home fans dreaming of promotion to the Zamaretto League Premier Division.

However, Bridgwater could not hold on and Griffiths equalised for Cirencester once again on 80 minutes, taking the game into extra time.

Etheridge netted his second, and Cirencester's winner, with a fine half-volley finish from a set piece on 112 minutes.

As the referee blew the final whistle, the brave Bridgwater players were obviously despondent as the jubilant victors celebrated their win.
