HEATHFIELD Community School, Monkon Heathfield, has notched up the best GCSE results in its history today.

School figures show that 97% of students gained five or more GCSE passes with over 85% achieving five or more A*-C grades.

Head teacher Elliott Furneaux said: “To be honest, these results have far exceeded our highest expectations.

“To be over 20% above our highest Department for Children, Schools and Families target in a year-group with nearly 60% boys is an extraordinary achievement.

“In fact, both the boys and the girls achieved well over 80% 5 A*-C. We have also added over 40 points to our average points score per student which shows how incredibly hardworking the year-group was – their families should be very proud of them.

“I am also delighted that every single subject achieved above their targets, with none achieving less than 65% Grade C and above which says so much about the extraordinary commitment of our teaching and non-teaching staff.”

Among the academic highflyers were 34 students who achieved at least seven A*/A grades. Pride of place went Floz Filose who achieved 10 A* and two A grades despite being a year younger than her peers.

High achievers include: Georgina Andrews, Ben Hooper, Laura Bickerton, Janine Hunt, Claire Brosnan-Hammon, James Huxtable, Luke Brown, Rose Lawrence, Calvin Bull, Max Merrick-Wren, Meghan Cooper, Lewis Millard, Hana Duddridge, Tania Parish, Katherine Edwardes, Tash Payne, Jess Falkner, Jess Poole, Sophie Feeney, Alice Priddle, Floz Filose, Helen Puddy, Oli Fletcher, Poppy Rooney, Naomi Gallagher, Georgia Saunders, Lois Gidley, Eli Sidwell, Joely Hartley, Grace Stocker, Peter Hauselman, Eliott Trim, Lianne Hodgkins, Sophie Vidler.
