‘ENTER the Dragon’ is the name of a new ‘public engagement’ video produced by Somerset County Council.

The 90-second film features the council’s mascot dragon Sparky using different services provided by the authority.

It is the first video to be posted on the council’s new YouTube channel.

As well as clips of the Taunton Flyer – the town’s park and ride bus, Glastonbury Rural Life Museum and Bridgwater Library, Sparky is shown with children from Parkfield Primary School in Taunton.

Alvin Horsfall, portfolio holder for communications and marketing, said: “As part of our commitment to public engagement, videos will be regularly posted on the site detailing council news, information and events.

“Somerset County Council believes that the YouTube channel will be visited by varied audiences and used as another means of accessing information about the authority.

“By having a greater web presence we hope to make it easier for a wider audience to find out about what Somerset County Council is involved in and what services we provide.”

Access and communications manager Robert Gunning said: “Enter The Dragon is a light-hearted look at Somerset County Council services which people will find informative and entertaining.

“The video also highlights our message of ‘Providing For Life’, which is at the heart of recent campaign work focusing on letting the public know about the breadth of services we provide as a local authority.”
