THE Princess Theatre and Arts Centre has big plans for 2024, as two new exciting events have recently been announced by the theatre.

First on the agenda is the initial instalment of a series of regular activities for locals aged over 65-years-old.

Made possible by a grant from the Hinkley Point C Community Fund in March earlier this year, The Princess Theatre will kick start proceedings with a D-Day anniversary gathering.

On Thursday, June 6, at 2:30pm, local seniors are invited to the theatre to remember the day of the Normandy landings, which took place 80 years ago to the day, in 1944.

The commemoration, dubbed 80 YEARS ON, will feature a performance from the Princess Community Choir, who will be singing war time songs, as well as tea and cake provided by the new Cabaret Café Bar.

A spokesperson for the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre said: "As we know, many in our community will want to celebrate this momentous event in British history which is why we will be opening this event up to everyone at a standard ticket price of £7.50 but with subsidised ticket price for those over 65 years of age at just £4.00 per ticket."

Also recently announced, an improvised performance group hailed 'the quickest wits in comedy' will perform at the Princess Theatre on Sunday, October 20, from 7:30pm.

The Noise Next Door will bring their show to Burnham-on-Sea, improvising their performance all based on audience suggestions.

The group of improv-artists are twelve-time sell-out veterans of The Edinburgh Fringe and have appeared on ‘The One Show’ (BBC One), ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ (ITV1), and ‘Roast Battle’ (Comedy Central).

They have also appeared alongside the likes of Michael McIntyre, Katherine Ryan, Romesh Ranganathan and Harry Hill.

A spokesperson for the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre added: "Buckle up… You’re in for a hell of a ride!

"The quickest wits in comedy are here to take you on a totally improvised tour around your weirdest and wildest ideas.

"The Noise Next Door are going hell for leather in this brand new show as they race through a priceless parade of off-the-cuff gags, scenes and songs, all based on your suggestions."
