A WOMAN who works at a school near Bridgwater has run the London Marathon after recovering from cancer.

One year prior to her 26.2 mile feat, Michelle Attwood, of Puriton Primary School, was undergoing chemotherapy.

She was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, and underwent surgery and chemotherapy at the start of 2023.

Now cancer-free, her dream to run the London Marathon was made a reality.

In aid of Cancer Research UK, Michelle has raised £5,181 and over £6,000 with Gift Aid.

Michelle has been a staff member at Puriton Primary for 18 years and has led running clubs for the children at the school.

Katie Williams, Headteacher, said: “Mrs Attwood is amazing, we are lucky to have her as one of our staff members.

"She is an inspiration and role model to all.

”The whole school community is beyond proud of all that she has achieved and are thrilled to have such a resilient, inspirational role model for our children.”
