A CONSULTATION has been launched which could change how dog owners are prosecuted if they breach Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs).

This could include failure to pick up dog poo, dogs being let off leads in places they shouldn't be, and dogs in places where they aren't allowed, such as childrens' play areas.

The consultation for the Somerset North, or ex-Sedgemoor, areas has been launched today (Friday, October 27). This closes on November 17, 2023.

Town and parish councils have been asked what changes, if any, should be put into place in preparation for the PSPO renewal in December.

The new proposed draft PSPO order, as well as a list of the areas affected, can be found on the Somerset Council website.
