MORE than 2,500 visitors flocked to a successful lambing event at Brymore Academy in Cannington on the weekend of March 11 and 12.

Guests were able to see the lambs, meet the pregnant ewes and hold baby chicks with the Friends of Brymore Association fundraising through selling refreshments and a tombola.

Visitors also had an opportunity to interact with the resident blacksmith and learn about this ancient form of metal work.

In addition, the youngest visitors were able to drive pedal tractors, do craft in the classroom and with a facepainter on hand the children had a great time.

Ian Dyer, parish councillor for Cannington, said: "Brymore is an integral part of the agricultural community and opening the farm for free is a great thing for local residents.

"I’m impressed with how they managed the weather and still put on a great show for children to see agriculture in action."

Lambing Day is part of a calendar the events that run at Brymore Academy and visitors are welcome to come to the next school on Saturday, June 24 to experience an even bigger event for their country fair.
