A SONG featuring Somerset by the Radio One breakfast show is getting a huge following across Taunton, Wellington and West Somerset.

Somerset Boy by the Chris Moyles Show is a parody of a former number one song called American Boy by Estelle.

The tune, which is on video sharing website YouTube, is regularly getting more than 1,000 hits a day.

Tommy Banner from The Wurzels told the County Gazette that a future collaboration on Somerset Boy could be on the cards.

He said: "My manager has been contacting him, we invited him to Somerset for a cider and he said he would try and meet up when he's next in the area."

Mr Banner also thinks that the song doesn't do any harm for Somerset's reputation either.

He said: "I think it's very good.

"Chris Moyles does things tongue in cheek, to make an entertaining and inventive show.

"It is a bit of credit for Somerset. He could have done Lancashire Boy' as he's from Leeds.

"This puts Somerset on the map."

The song has got a cult following from young Somerset Farmers who have been leaving messages on website forums and using the track as their ring tone.

Anna Francis from Somerset Young Farmers Association said: "It's a talking point for people, because the farmers are from Somerset and it's been on national radio - they quite like it and find it funny."The song may even be used at this weekend's annual general meeting, according to the forums.

Anna said: "I haven't heard anything yet but it wouldn't surprise me because this weekend is the National Federation AGM and the song is especially liked by the farmers from Somerset."
