THE fire service was called to an alight car on Monday (December 10) morning on the A39 at Bawdrip.
Reports of the problem on the Bridgwater to Glastonbury road went out at around 10.15am and saw one appliance from Bridgwater attend.
On arrival crews confirmed that the car was well alight and used one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus to deal with the blaze.
The car received 60% fire damage to the engine compartment, and 10% to the rest of the car and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the cause is believed to be electrical.
