A SCHOOL in Bridgwater has been awarded a prestigious status by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
The new category recognises the excellent performance of Haygrove School and the value that it adds to its pupils during their time there.
High Performing Specialist School status comes at the same time as the place of learning's election to membership of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust 60% Club.
Head teacher Bob Ward said: "I am delighted for our pupils, staff, governors and parents that the high quality of our work has been recognised in this way by the government.
"It comes at a significant time in the life of our school when we are drawing up plans for our new school and a collaborative working partnership with Penrose Special School and the other schools involved in Building Schools for the Future in Bridgwater."
