AFTER a weekend of sunny weather the Met Office has warned that thunderstorms could hit Somerset in the next 24 hours.

Today's Met Office forecast says it will be a sunny and dry day across the county and temperatures will reach a high of 21 degrees before falling to 5 degrees overnight.

But after a scorching weekend the weather is set to change on Monday (May 21) as thunderstorms and isolated heavy showers are forecast to hit the county from 5pm.

The Met Office's chief forecaster, said: "Fine and dry with plenty of warm sunshine once more and light winds, though a risk of isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon."

The maximum temperature is set to hit 21 degrees before falling to 14 degrees overnight.

But the thundery weather will not stop there as the Met Office says there is 'a risk of isolated showers or thunderstorms' from Tuesday to Thursday.
