A FORMER Somerset MP is gunning for the top spot in council in the run up to the elections.
Tessa Munt, former MP for Wells, is spearheading the Liberal Democrat campaign and is hoping to win the Wells seat, one that is currently occupied by leader of Somerset County Council, Conservative John Osman.
The election takes place across the county on May 4.

Elsewhere in the county, the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Liberal Democrats have announced two candidates.
Mike Murphy will stand for the party in Burnham North and John Parkes will stand in Highbridge and Southern Burnham.
