I had a really bizarre experience in the last few days, something that made the show a little harder to do than normal. The problem? The internet was down. It wasn’t a problem at the station’s end and I was aware that a number of homes and businesses in the area had been affected but it made me think about how reliant we have become on internet access. It’s just taken for granted that it’s there and will be there when we wish and want to use it. It also convinced me that computers will never take over the world. You just know that the instant they went to oust us from the planet that windows would start updating and the aggressive computers would all just grind to a halt. Either that or they’d just crash completely. I think the human race is safe on that score for a little while longer yet.

This week has seen the first changes to the daytime lineup since we launched back in April. Nobody has left the team, we’re just squeezing an extra show in for you. The downside is I now start at 6am instead of 7 and I shall still be as irritatingly awake as ever.

Finally, the answer to last week’s teaser: In what year did Bridgwater first get its own police force? The answer? 1835. This week’s teaser is this: What’s the name of the Scottish member of the Wurzels? No cheating, I’ll give you the answer in next week’s column. Have a great week.
