IT was a day of excitement and fun for youngsters at Catcott Primary School as they visited the Museum Of Somerset in Taunton.

The pupils, all in year three, have been studying different periods of time in history in a variety of topics.

The museum visit, on November 26, focused around a Saxon Somerset day where the children acted out battles between the Vikings and the Saxons.

They also looked round the exhibitions, learning about different artefacts and taking part in a range of fun arts and crafts with a historic theme.

The day was deemed a huge success by the teachers, with all the children experiencing an insight into what Saxon life was like.
