At the recent Sedgemoor District Council's joint scrutiny meeting the issue of Magna Carta was raised in relation to the River Parrett. Rhian Childs from Military Boats said according to the charter if the river was given a tidal barrage there needed to be a lock system at Dunball. The ancient law decreed that subjects have: "the inalienable rights of navigation" for waterways.
