HAYGROVE School has been accredited, for the third time, with the British Council’s International School Award.

The Bridgwater institution has been honoured in recognition of its commitment to developing an international dimension to school life.

The British Council was positive about Haygrove’s strong links with overseas schools, especially its partnerships with the Yew Wah Foundation in China and the Mawanda Basic School, in Zambia.

The council praised the partnerships and the way they helped with learning at the school.

“The partnerships with your Chinese and Zambian partner schools are sound and your relationships with them are interesting and have been successful,” the council said.

“They show much promise in terms of delivering mutually beneficial collaborations as you progress with your international learning programme.”

Mrs Collinge, director of international studies at Haygrove School, was delighted to share news of achieving the International School Award with Haygrove’s newly appointed team of international ambassadors.

The 12 students, who are from Years 9 and 10, will work closely with Mrs Collinge to further strengthen the school’s international programme and to encourage fellow students to explore and study key global themes.
