VJ Day was not forgotten in Cannington. On Sunday, August 23, Cannington WI hosted a cream tea for the residents of Cannington to commemorate Victory in Japan which brought the global conflict to an end in 1945. Cannington also combined the event with commemorating 100 years of WI in the UK.
The event was meant to take place in Cannington Jubilee Gardens but unfortunately the weather was kind, but Cannington WI rose to the occasion and did a good job of decorating the Village Hall to ensure, as they put it: "A super time was had by all."
