MAYOR of Bridgwater Cllr Redman recently gave two Bridgwater organisations a cash boost through the town council grant fund.
Cllr Redman presented a cheque for £600 to the Bridgwater Bucs basketball team which will be used to help promote the team and sport to the youngsters in the area, The Bucs adult team recently completed the perfect season with victory in the Somerset league final.
The recently-appointed Mayor also made a £600 donation to Youth UnLimited which runs the youth club based at Rollercoaster in Cllr Redman’s Dunwear Sydenham Ward.
Cllr Redman said: “Following the funding withdrawal by Somerset County Council the town council stepped in and was able to act as commissioners for two more years.
“The club is going from strength to strength with around 50 young people using the club on a Friday night. “We are hoping that they can secure further funding to enable it to continue.”
