MORE than 400 runners turned out to take part in the fourth Bridgwater 10k.

Conditions for the runners were almost perfect with recent warm weather drying out the usually damp off-road part of the route to leave the ideal course for first time runners.

The men’s race was won by Stephen Kershaw of Taunton Athletic Club with a time on 35 minutes and 30 seconds while the women’s race was won by Kim Hill, also of Taunton Athletic Club, who completed the course in 39 minutes and 38 seconds.

The sunshine also brought spectators out in force to lend their support at the finish line and to enjoy the barbeque that was put on after the race.

The event at Trinity Sport and Leisure also saw more than 45 youngsters take part in a 1km fun run with each competitor receiving a certificate for their efforts.
