TWO charities have each received a cash boost after being nominated for funding by North Petherton’s Mayor, Cllr Alan Bradford.
The Motor Neurone Disease Assoc and the local branch of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society recieved £320 each after people mucked in to raise money for the causes.
A derby cricket match was held between North Petherton and North Newton which raised £240, with a further £400 collected at the Town Council’s Civic Service held at The Minster Church of St Mary The Virgin.
During the service, Alfred Jewel Awards were presented by Lady Gass, the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, to people in recognition of their voluntary public service.
Edward Florey received the award for the Moorland area, North Newton winners were Mark Barham and Chris and Val Whitcombe and Jeff and Janet Collingwood and Nigel Coram received awards for the North Petherton area.
