MEETINGS which provided information and advice for flood-hit residents have ceased due to falling attendance.
After more than three months of providing information from a number of agencies, the regular Canalside flood meetings have come to an end.
When the meetings at the venue near Bridgwater began in February they attracted well over 100 people looking for support following the winter floods.
Somerset County Council said the number of people attending had dropped and at the last meeting on May 21 it was agreed they would stop but could be restarted if needed.β
Cllr John Osman, Leader of Somerset County Council, said: βThe help and support is still very much available and will continue but in light of the falling numbers it now feels like the right time to bring these events to an end.β
Information is still available from Somerset Direct on 0845 345 9166 (staffed Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm).
