A 90-year-old Moorland woman decided that all her gifts for her birthday party would be donated to a local hospice.
Joan Lang, who had her party at the Harvest Moon in North Newton, donated almost £1,000 to St Margaret’s Hospice after the event.
Mrs Lang said: “I would like to thank family, friends and neighbours for making my day so memorable and for the very kind donations to the hospice.”
Julie Draper, a community fundraiser for St Margaret’s Hospice, who received the donation of £942.50, said: “It was a great pleasure to meet Mrs Lang ... she is such a warm, caring lady.
“It is thanks to such generous donations as this that St Margaret’s is able to fund the specialist care our medical staff can give freely to local people.”
