Middlezoy Recycling Centre to close as cuts bite

Bridgwater Mercury: End of the road for Middlezoy Recycling Centre End of the road for Middlezoy Recycling Centre

MIDDLEZOY Recycling Centre is shutting its doors on Monday (March 31) as part of Somerset County Council’s latest budget cuts.

The recycling centre in Middlezoy is one of two in Somerset closing next Monday, along with a centre in Coleford, as the two were of the least used in the county.

Between the Middlezoy and Coleford recycling centres they accounted for less than 2% of all recycling centre visits in Somerset.

To compensate for the closures, the recycling centres in Bridgwater and Taunton will now have extended opening hours seven days a week.

The centres will be open from 8am to 4pm every day, including Sunday, starting next Monday.

Although the Centre in Bridgwater is opening 7 days a week, good, BUT surely it would be more benificial to open 1or 2 hours later and stay open by the same amount. This would certainly help working users specially in the summer months.

I agree with you,but I expect your idea would be rejected on cost grounds, not much is done for the benefit of the public these days.
Incidentally I have been told that supermarket carriers can no longer be recycled at Bridgwater does anybody know why?
