THESE brave police officers from Sedgemoor were hailed for their heroic deeds during a grand presentation ceremony.

Bridgwater bobbies PC Mark Bramwell and PC Martin Davis were honoured by the Royal Humane Society for saving the life of a vulnerable young person in the town.

Specific details of the incident have been kept secret in order to protect the person involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, four heroic officers from Burnham were also given bravery awards for their part in saving a man threatening to jump onto the M5 from a bridge at Mark.

Special Constable Phillippa Baskwill, PC Ryan Dinham, PCSO Sarah England and PCSO Tracey Grobbeler were given Testimonials on Parchment for their selfless actions which saved the man’s life at the end of last year, despite a danger to themselves.

Chief Constable Nick Gargan said: “I am delighted to have presented these awards.

“Since I came to Avon and Somerset I have been impressed by the commitment of the police officers and PCSOs to keeping people safe.

“These officers represent everything our communities should expect and deserve from their police service – bravery, tenacity, strength and absolute dedication to problem solving, good service and improving the communities in which we live.

“These awards highlight the wide-range of situations our teams have to deal with and the commitment they have to protecting the public.

“I extend particular thanks to the Special Constables and volunteers who give their time to the Constabulary and their communities for free.”
