TUESDAY could be one of the most important days in Bridgwater’s recent history – with two hugely controversial planning applications set to be determined.
Sedgemoor District Council is due to vote on Tesco’s plans for the Northgate site, and a 186-homes development off Haygrove Road.
If Tesco gets the go-ahead, the project could still be jeopardised by a public inquiry the following Tuesday, into an application to designate Brewery Field as a ‘town green’.
Also on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the council’s development control committee, is an application by S Notaro Ltd to build a golf course at Huntworth, and another scheme for 20 homes off Stogursey Lane in Nether Stowey.
The committee usually votes on major planning applications for Bridgwater and Burnham once a month on a Tuesday.
But there are so many applications for Tuesday’s meeting, that the Burnham ones have been moved to a separate meeting next Friday.
