AHEAD of ITV’s adaptation, airing in 2016, Eltjo de Vries will be telling the tale of a Scandinavian prince, dating back over 1,000 years.

Part of the Free January events at the Bridgwater Arts Centre, de Vries tells the story of Beowulf in a way which will never be heard again, with no notes and no script.

The tale of Beowulf is one of heroic deeds and horrible demons - Beowulf sails to Denmark to aid the king’s fight against Grendel, an inhabitant of the swamplands who is angered by the noise from the king’s mead-hall.

Fighting dragons and demons whilst trying to lead a country, Beowulf is the ultimate story for lovers of mythical creatures and ancient folklore.

Eltjo de Vries has over 20 years of experience as a professional performer, having graduated from the prestigious Guildford School of Acting in 1991. Although he still acts, Eltjo is now gaining an admirable reputation as an improvisational storyteller at various festivals and libraries, bringing to life ancient tales and folklore from around the world, transporting his audiences to ancient worlds and long lost civilisations.
