AN investigation is underway to try and identify a mystery white power that was discovered by the side of the A38 in Bridgwater.
At about 1.20am this morning, a member of the public called the police after discovering a bag containing white powder.
They took the back home on behalf of the police where it was soon collected by officers. They were there informed there was a second bag by the side of the road, at Dunball.
Police went to the scene and called in the fire service with specialist chemical equipment as a precaution as they were unsure as to what the substance was.
The area was cordoned off while investigations were conducted during the small hours.
Testing of the powder revealed that it was not hazardous but further tests are being carried out to establish its identity.
