Regional League Division 2
Bridgwater Jupiter 31, Titans Lightning 85

JUPITER faced Titans Lightning in their second home game of the season, and skilful interceptions and tips by Sally Haysham (GK), Emily Bridges (GD) and Lauren Cook (WD) put pressure on Titans attack.

But Jupiter struggled to carry the ball down the court and Titans took advantage, ending the first quarter 20-6 up.

Alisha Gardener (C) and Kia Jenner (WA) worked tirelessly, but still Titans were more settled, capitalising on errors to lead 43-14 at half time.

Jupiter brought on Annia Holleron at WD and Eve Jenner at GD, and great link-up with the centre court players set up Cerys Ethridge (GA) and player of the match Maddie Kennard (GS) in Jupiter’s best quarter (63-25).

The defence continued to put pressure on Titans but the visitors eased to victory.

Somerset League Division 2
Taunton Blackdown 35, Sydenham Rubies 34

RUBIES started strongly and fought hard against the strong winds and poor weather conditions, and strong shooting from Carly Langdon and Michelle Jenkins gave Rubies a 10-9 first-quarter lead.

The second quarter saw some good play up the court from centre court players Steph Gibson, Kirsty Richards and Jess Bull, but Blackdown managed to pull the game back to take a 19-18 advantage.

The weather then took a turn for the worse, but the Rubies defence fought hard, with interceptions from defenders Kerry Clark and Katie Issit.

Despite their tenacity, the third quarter ended with Blackdown 28-26 up.

With strong rain in the fourth quarter there were handling errors aplenty and, although Rubies gave it their all, Blackdown won 35-34.

Somerset League Division 3
Taunton Brendon 33, Sydenham Emeralds 29

EMERALDS played Brendon from Taunton NC on an incredibly windy day, but started confidently and led after the first quarter.

Due to an injury Emeralds started the second quarter a player down and consequently played the rest of the game with six players.

The defence stayed strong, with Leah Smith dropping back to GK, to help Emeralds keep the lead at half time.

Brendon snuck ahead by the end of the third quarter and kept hold of the lead to win the game, despite plenty of industry from the entire Emeralds team.
