CAITLIN Webster is making quite a name for herself in the sailing world, where she has enjoyed considerable success in recent months.

The 15-year-old King’s College pupil, who hails from Burrowbridge, took part in the Feva World Championship in Holland alongside Lucy Ferguson.

Sadly, the weather was against the pair and they came away a little disappointed with their performance.

However, having then returned to England to compete in the 29er National Championships at Weymouth, Caitlin and Lucy qualified for the Gold Fleet, finishing 13th with an overall result of 18th.

It was onwards and upwards from there, when, sailing with a different crew, the 15-year-old won the next regatta – the 29er European Championships at Quiberon in France.

Reflecting on her recent experiences, Caitlin said: “I’ve had such a great time taking part in these events.

"You never know what the conditions are going to be like on the day; there are always last minute things to take care of, such as my Dad having to add weight to the boat before the Weymouth 29’er, or we couldn’t take part!

"We’ve certainly learnt a lot and have met loads of new people, but we now know what we need to work on over this coming winter’s training.

“Overall we both loved being in France; it was so much fun and a fabulous experience.”
