Veteran batsman Marcus Trescothick will have no doubt played on some challenging wickets during his glittering career.
But the 42-year-old Somerset player, an Ashes winner with England in 2005, may have broken new ground on Thursday by batting on a snow-covered surface at Taunton.
Trescothick was continuing his preparations for the 26th season of his county career when he could not resist having a knock in the snow.
Having just returned from a net in a marquee, the left-hander had a hit on the cold outfield with team-mate Max Waller.
