THE weekend’s hockey fell victim to the weather, with Bridgwater Hockey Club confirming at lunchtime on Friday that all their games were off.

Bridgwater men’s 1sts had been due to face Somerset Gryphons in GoCrea8 Central 1, as they look to cement fourth place in the division.

Bridgwater are nine points off third, but only one point ahead of fifth-placed Old Bristolians.

Their remaining games are away to City of Bath A, who sit 10th, this coming Saturday (noon start), at home to eighth-placed Taunton Vale B (March 17), and the rearranged match with seventh-placed Gryphons.

Bridgwater B had been due to host Bridgwater A in a derby match last weekend, with the 2nd XI seventh in West Central 1 and the 3rds 11th.

The 2nds look secure in mid-table, but Bridgwater B are second bottom and need points to overhaul Westbury & UB C (one point ahead) and Old Bristolians B (four points up).

Bridgwater A host Firebrands D, who are two points ahead of them, this Saturday (2.15pm), and then travel to basement side Bristol University D the following weekend.

As for Bridgwater B, they are scheduled to go to second-placed Keynsham on Saturday (12.30pm), and then entertain Old Bristolians B.

Bridgwater C were due to travel to Sidmouth & Ottery B in South East 2, and the postponement leaves them fourth in the table.

They are six points off the top three and three up on fifth-placed Taunton Civil Service A, ahead of games at home to league leaders East Devon C on Saturday (12.15pm) and away to Taunton Vale D (ninth) on March 17, as well as the rearranged match.

In South East 3, Bridgwater D’s match at East Devon D came to grief.

Bridgwater are third out of five teams, and as well as the East Devon game, they are at home to second-placed Isca E this Saturday (4pm).

BRIDGWATER ladies 1sts are sixth in the West Clubs Women’s League Central Division, 14 points clear of the relegation zone and hoping to push into the top half.

With their home match against Bristol University 3rds off, that leaves them with four games to play.

This Saturday they are set to travel to second-bottom Taunton Vale 3rds (10am), ahead of matches at home to Winscombe, who sit second, on March 17 and away to fifth-placed Old Bristolians on March 24.

The ladies 2nds, sixth in a congested mid-table in Sedgemoor Division 2, also have four matches left – one being last weekend’s postponed game at Taunton Civil Service 2nds.

The others are at home to Taunton Vale 5ths this Saturday (10.30am), then away to White Eagles 2nds and home to Minehead 2nds.
