South West Women’s Premier
Stoke Lane Athletic 3, Bridgwater Town Ladies 0
THE ladies’ unpredictable form reared its head again when they were beaten by lowly Stoke Lane.
Town should have been ahead in the first minute but a great save by the Stoke keeper thwarted them.
The visitors created numerous chances but a combination of poor finishing and bad luck saw them fail to take the lead.
The lack of pace at the back led to the first goal when a high through ball caught the defence square at the back, allowing a Stoke forward to slot past Faye Edwards.
A slip by Chelsey Pitchers in the mud gave the ball away and Stoke took full advantage to take a two-goal lead.
Town’s bad luck was emphasised when a drive from Georgia Coles beat the keeper only for the ball to hit a defender on the knee, and loop over the bar.
To make matters worse, in the last minute, Amber Moule met a cross and headed past Edwards and into her own net.
Town must try to get back on track soon or they will be sucked into a relegation battle.
They are at home to Bristol Ladies Union on Sunday (November 10, ko 2pm).
