BRIDGWATER College footballers are two steps away from being crowned the country's best under-18s side following a 3-2 quarter-final win over Newcastle-under-Lyme.
A fast-paced game started from the whistle when Bridgwater's Joe Grant launched a long throw into the box, landing at Sam Hallett's feet, where he promptly scored a goal, putting Bridgwater ahead within three minutes.
Matt Connick and Mathew Hurley both had chances before another long throw from Grant was met by Adam Long to put Bridgwater 2-0 up.
Goalkeeper Greg Turner was kept on his toes to deny Newcastle on the stroke of half time.
In the second half, the Staffordshire side pulled a goal back before substitute Nathan Bishop, who has scored in each of his last five outings, netted from a corner.
Newcastle pulled a late consolation back but it was too late as Bridgwater bag a spot in the last four.
The semi-final against Huntingdon College tomorrow (Wednesday) at Bridgwater Town's Fairfax Park. Entry is free and kick-off is 2pm.
