Hengrove Athletic 0, Bridgwater Town 3

BRIDGWATER Town warmed up for tomorrow night's Les Phillips Cup semi-final with victory at in-form Hengrove Athletic on Saturday.

Their hosts had not lost in their last four matches, but were blown away by the Robins' fast start - the away side 2-0 up inside 15 minutes.

Jake Llewellyn opened the scoring on nine minutes, smashing into the net after being found by Jack Jenkins' fine pass, and that was followed by Jack Taylor's 23rd goal of the season.

It was a fine move which led to it, as Mark Armstrong and Kurt Robinson combined before Llewellyn beat his man and squared the ball for Taylor to finish.

Steve Holland made an outstanding defensive block to deny Craig Parsons with the goal gaping, as the visitors carried their two-goal lead into half time.

Syd Camper was denied by the goalkeeper and Taylor by an offside flag, before Craig White came closest to pulling one back for Hengrove, hitting the post from the edge of the box.

But the Robins wrapped it up with five minutes left, when Armstrong drove into the net after the loose ball fell to him from a corner.

Bridgwater sit seventh in the Premier Division table, ahead of their final league game of the season at Chipping Sodbury Town next Saturday.

Before that, however, they welcome sixth-placed Shepton Mallet to Fairfax Park for their Les Phillips Cup semi-final tomorrow (ko 7.30pm).

Bridgwater Town: Steve Laker, Dave Thorne, Mark Armstrong, Charlie White, Kurt Robinson, Steve Holland, Jack Jenkins, Harry Horton, Syd Camper, Jake Llewellyn (Dave Pearse 79), Jack Taylor (Mike Duffy 90).
