COACH Jake Chidgey has won England Basketball’s Young Volunteer Coach of the Year award.
The award is to recognise the time and effort he has put into Bridgwater BUCS Basketball Club and the time he has given to coach young players.
It is a double celebration for the club, who rounded off an unbelievable year, finishing top of the league and winning the play-off and then winning the Best in the West competition in June.
Jake said: “It’s a massive honour. I do voluntary work for the love of basketball and for kids who want to learn the sport and it’s great to be recognised in this way.”
This year’s season gets underway on Friday against Taunton at Bridgwater College (tip-off 7:45pm.
Training times for Bucs are every Friday evening at the college’s sport centre: Under 11s and 13s 5.30pm to 6.30pm, Under 15s and Under 17s 6.30pm to 7.30pm and Men’s 7.30pm to 9pm.
The club are looking for sponsors for their three new kits and club T-shirts. If you can help, contact philrogers5@live.co.uk
