A TYPICAL local derby, with both teams demanding bragging rights, started with the Burnham lads dominating the first 20 minutes as Petherton continued to give away penalties.

Eventually, their pressure told as one of the backs worked his way under the posts, which was converted.

Petherton had a few harsh words under the posts and started to impose themselves by making inroads through Ben Harvey and the impressive Rich Winter.

Cameron Kirk slipped the ball to Simon Freeman, who found Luke Williams on a superb line to dot down under the posts. Freeman converted to make it 7-7 at half time.

The second half began with Pethy making strong breaks though Mark Sutherland-Earl, which forced Burnham to give away a penalty on the ten-yard line. Freeman slotted it right though the middle.

From then on, Pethy dominated play, but just lacked the finishing touch. But tries followed by Darren Horne, Levi Crocker and the strong running Wayne Pither.

Three of the four conversions were slotted over.

Chris Sweall and Nick Pocok had a typically strong game and made good ground.
