A FIVE-TRY win and a league bonus point masked a disappointing display from Albion’s second string.

Against a side comprising several University of West of England students, Bridgwater failed to capitalise on their dominance.

It took nearly 20 minutes before Dan Gooding, making his debut out of position at centre, benefited from a searing break by Nick Bradley to open the scoring with a try under the posts.

However, Bridgwater made heavy weather of the game and it was Bristol who scored the next try, capitalising on some poor defending.

Albion continued to overcomplicate their play but with ten minutes of the first half remaining, the penny finally dropped and Joe Sluman and Sam Russell went over for pushover tries, both converted.

In the second half, Bridgwater conceded another try against the run of play, before scrum half Jack Kohler sauntered over for Bridgwater’s next score, after the visitors’ scrum had been demolished.

Bizarrely, the referee blew for full time with fully ten minutes remaining and Bridgwater must hope points difference is not a factor come the end of the season.
