MORGANIANS could well have won by a greater margin if they had taken full advantage of their opportunities against this top of the league side.

On five minutes, Morgs conceded a penalty for a high tackle, to go 3-0 behind. Soon after Dan Milliner scored a try to give the home side the lead.

Ben Chandler gathered the ball in his own half following a Chew Valley attack and kicked for touch but did not quite make it.

However, fast running by Milliner and a good pick-up produced the try, which was converted by Sam Chillingworth.

Five minutes later, Chillingworth was unlucky with a penalty kick from Chew Valley’s ten-metre line.

Chew Valley then scored a try through their number 12, who made a straight dash to touch down under the posts.

The score was converted to leave Morganians trailing 10-7 at half-time.

Morganians made four changes in the second half. Geoff Thompson came on for Paul Grimstead, Mark Quinn replaced Nigel Smith, Shane Andrews came on Simon Faber, and Dan Pearce replaced Paul Hill.

Morganians had the stronger set of forwards and after several drives, Roy Grimstead touched down. The conversion was missed.

Halfway through the second half, Morgs’ Mark Quinn was sin-binned for stamping but there were no further scores.

The game saw the first appearance of scrum half Dan Pearce, who played well, but man-of-the-match was Ewan Hyde.
