Bridgwater United Women put their poor run of form behind them on Thursday (September 26) as they put six goals past Somerset rivals Portishead.
The Robins went into their latest Women’s National League Division One South West match on the back of three straight defeats.
They made one change from their defeat at home to Moneyfields as Ella-Mae Miller came in for Hollie Tappin who dropped to the bench.
Bridgwater United made a lightning quick start as Hana Bennett put the ball through to Faith Bedford for her to score.
The home side continued to apply pressure before taking a 2-0 lead on 11 minutes when Bethany Everson picked up the ball and drove through the Portishead defence, slotting the ball in the bottom corner.
Bridgwater added a third on 27 minutes when Daniella Tyson put Everson through who fired across the goalkeeper to score.
It was 3-0 at half time and it took 14 minutes of the second half for Bridgwater to add a fourth through Bennett from a corner.
The fifth goal was scored on 70 minutes when Jessica Smith stepped up to take a free-kick and found the top corner.
The final goal was scored when Tappin slotted the ball home with her first touch after coming on as a substitute.
Bridgwater United are now seventh in the table and are next in action at home to Worthing on Sunday, October 6.
