Division One South West: Bridgwater United 1-0 Torquay United

BRIDGWATER United Women snapped a two-game losing run to pick up three points at home over Torquay United.

It was a close battle between two evenly matched sides but in the end the Robins did enough to take home the win.

In the early exchanges Bridgwater were on top and in the second minute Hollie Tappin put pressure on the keeper with a shot and Ellie-May Bell also went close.

A lovely ball from Fiona Barry in the 16th minute made its way to Bethany Everson but the keeper came out to swoop the ball and stop a certain goal.

However the pressured proved too much as in the 26th minute a bad clearance from Torquay allowed Tappin to have space in the box and finish neatly into the corner.

From there Bridgwater held the lead until the break. In the second half it was much of the same as Torquay chased an equaliser.

It wouldn't come though as Bridgwater stayed strong in defence and did enough to win the match.

Up next for Bridgwater United is a home match on Sunday, October 22 in the FA Cup where Forest Green Rovers are the visitors.
