Division One South West: Swindon Town 3-0 Bridgwater United
BRIDGWATER United Women's up and down start to the season continued at the weekend as they were beaten by Swindon Town.
The end result was 3-0 to the hosts as Bridgwater were unable to combat against the strong Swindon attack.
The scoreline means Bridgwater sit in seventh place in the FA Women's National League Division One South West.
The Robins have improved since the start of the campaign but are currently on a two game losing run, one in the league and one in the cup.
In the match, the hosts were on the front foot early and with what seemed to be their first chance of the match, they scored.
Two minutes in the ball was sent in from a corner into the box with Colston missing a header, it fell to Georgia Clifford who put it away to make it 1-0.
Following that, Swindon looked to double the advantage quickly and the home side were well on top creating chance after chance.
In the 15th minute, Viveash crossed the ball into the box and Colston attempted a karate-like volley but it went just wide.
Bridgwater did fight back and were able to move the ball forward themselves but often the last pass missed the mark or the Swindon defence stood tall.
In the 44th minute it was 2-0 to Swindon after Annie Colyston shot from the edge of the box and it made its way in the back of the net.
For the second half Bridgwater looked much improved and were keeping hold of the ball better. This in turn led to more chances but again the visitors were unable to convert any of those.
In the 95th minute, right at the death, a volley from Emison Evans made it 3-0 to Swindon and wrapped up the three points.
In other news, the club recently appointed Sam Cox as first team coach for the Women's section.
She joins manager Grant Fisher's coaching staff and was someone who he had personally sought out to bring into the club.
A spokesperson for Bridgwater United said: "The players and club will benefit hugely and someone who Grant will be looking forward to work with immensely."
Up next for Bridgwater United Women is a home match against Torquay United on Wednesday October 11. Kick off is 7.45pm at Fairfax Park.
