SPAXTON went into this game at Purnells knowing that they needed a big win which is what they achieved to win promotion.
After losing the toss Spaxton were asked to bat and after 20 overs on a difficult pitch had reached 56 for one.
Bishop and Prescott then hit the accelerator pedal as both looked to take advantage of the foundation they had built and the wickets in hand and in the next eight overs doubled the score to 112.
Prescott then departed for an excellent 64 from 89 balls, but thanks to Bishop who hit 33 off the last two overs saw Spaxton to 216 for six from they 40 overs. Bishop ended unbeaten on 95 off 114 balls.
The Spaxton bowlers then got off to the best possible starts as Pople removed two of the top three and when Richards joined the party Purnells were 33 for three after 10.
Wickets kept falling and at 70 for five Purnells were wobbling.
However the hosts then started to fight back and after 20 overs Purnells were 96 without further loss.
Golden arm bowlers Rich and Hill were introduced and duly obliged. as they were bowled out 153, Rich ending with three for 17.
