Wembdon 171 for 9 (42 overs) def. Butleigh 140 all out (37.5 overs)

WEMBDON CC travelled to Buteigh on Saturday for their final away trip of the campaign and picked up an impressive win.

When play commenced after a rain delay Butleigh won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to bowl first in the 42 over reduced match.

Daniel Bingham top scored for Wembdon with 43 runs while opener Harry Everett got the innings off to a strong start with 30 runs.

A middle order collapse of sorts left Wembdon in a tough spot however some good shots later in the order helped the visiting side set a target of 171 for 9.

After tea Wembdon opened with Brockwell and opted to bring Singappuli spin into the attack from the off.

A flurry of wickets left Butleigh 132 for 7 with 40 needed from 8 overs.

The Butleigh lower order looked to pinch a few singles however they were dismissed for 140.  Losing their final 6 wickets for 30 runs.

A victory by 31 runs will see Wembdon move back to 3rd in the table as they host Taunton St. Andrews next Saturday at The Green for the final encounter of the summer, midday start.
