Frome 234 all out (50 overs) lost to Wembdon 235 - 8 (49.1 overs)

IT has been a long time coming with many rain affected games in between but Wembdon 1stXI are back to winning ways and move back to 3rd in the table with two fixtures remaining.

Frome won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to bat. They got off to a flying start as the Wembdon opening bowlers struggled for consistency.

Frome were dismissed for 234 after a strong finish from Wembdon, an imposing total especially considering the recent run of results.

Following the tea interval Anning and Pigden opened up for Wembdon.  Anning replaced the injured Everett who was absent from the fixture.  Sadly Anning departed in the first over with Watts claiming the wicket.

Thankfully despite two early wickets Pigden grew in confidence and the incoming Singappuli looked right at home immediately.

The pair would share a stand for 14 overs adding 72 and moving Wembdon along to a healthier 84.

After a brief hiccup, an 8th wicket stand of 42 between James-Stone and Lowe came at a critical stage.

Pope came in at 10 and with Lowe pushed the Frome fielders with a series of 2's before taking 13 off the 49th over and hitting the winning runs soon after.

Wembdon travel to Butleigh next Saturday in their final away fixture of 2023.
