Bridgwater Third XI (192 all out ) lost to Trull CC (196 for eight) by two wickets.

TRULL maintained their 100% start to the 2022 season but they were made to work hard by their Bridgwater hosts before they got over the line with two wickets to spare.

Bridgwater won the toss and batting first were bowled out for 192 in 39.1 overs, of which opener Kieran Windsor top scored with 44, Ben Coombes made 40 and Dominic Court 39.

The pick of the Trull bowlers was Brian Stone who claimed four for 26, Andy Sapey took two for 19 and Greg Walters two for 28.

When Trull replied they got off to a good start with Andy Sapey and Tim Gibbs putting on 30 in3 overs for the first wicket before Sapey was out for 12.

Gibbs went onto hit a brilliant 54 and Andy Clark made 26 before a collapse ensued and Trull found themselves eight wickets down still needing 40 runs to win.

Mark Thomas then came to the crease to join Craig Lawton and the pair proceeded to put on 40 runs together to see Trull home in 38.1 overs,Thomas ending unbeaten on 22, while Lawton was not out 10.

The pick of the Bridgwater bowlers was Ed Habberfield who took three for 40 from nine overs, while Tom Fursland ended with three for 32 off six.

Trull sit proudly at the top of the Somerset League Premier Division with 105 points from their three matches 35 ahead of Uphill Castle who are also unbeaten with 70 from their two matches.
