BRIDGWATER and Albion RFC Women made history on Sunday when they played their first ever league match against North Bristol Seconds at College Way.

Unfortunately the opposition only fielded 12 players which disrupted the home side at the start, and despite losing 17-50 the Bridgy team were far from disheartened and already looking forward to their next match this coming weekend.

The try scorers for the hosts were captain Taylor Wetherall who put early points on the board with an incredible break through the Bristol’s defensive line, and Abbey Alderwick who dominated as a full back and scored two tries.

A big well done to all who played in this historic match and to everyone who has been involved in helping the team to get to this level.

The Bridgwater Women’s players were Beth Branson, Tazmin Selway, Lucy Stone, Abigail Phelps, Jessie Redwood, Steph Blake, Laura Wurz Waddleton, Taylor Wetherall (c), Becca Stone, Charlotte Woodward, Phoebe Alderwick, Michelle Blackford (vc), Gemma Batts, Chloe Joy, Abbey Alderwick, Kizzie Healey and Coral Osman.
