BRIDGWATER Town’s crunch Buildbase FA Vase third round tie at Brimscombe & Thrupp will now be played this coming Sunday, December 27 (3pm).

The match was due to be played last Saturday, but Brimscombe’s pitch at The Meadow was waterlogged, forcing them to postpone.

Bridgwater announced on the club website that tickets purchased for the supporters coach heading to Gloucestershire will be valid for the new date.

The draw for the fourth round pits the winner of the Brimscombe v Bridgwater match at home to Buckland Athletic or Tavistock on Saturday, January 9.

As a result of Saturday's FA Vase match being rescheduled, Bridgwater’s Toolstation Western League matches away to Street (Boxing Day) and Bitton (December 28) must also be rearranged.

The Western League returned at the weekend, having been paused since the start of November in line with Covid-19 restrictions, but the weather and teams’ FA Vase commitments meant that only three Premier Division fixtures were played.

The Robins are due to be in action tonight (Tuesday, 7.30pm), away to Odd Down.

Bridgwater, who sit 12th in the table, have not played a league match since October 24, when they defeated Chipping Sodbury Town 5-0.

Odd Down are 17th in the standings, with nine defeats from 13 matches so far.

THE wet weather played havoc with the Uhlsport Somerset County League schedule, too, with Middlezoy Rovers Reserves’ match at home to Staplegrove, and Ashcott’s trip to Bishops Lydeard Reserves, among the fixtures to be called off.

Ashcott are due to visit Burnham United Reserves on Boxing Day (2pm), and the following Monday (December 28, 2pm) sees Middlezoy Rovers entertain Ilminster Town in the Premier Division.

Ashcott are due to play on December 28 as well, at home to Combe St Nicholas (also 2pm), but Middlezoy Reserves’ next match is not until January 2, away to Street Reserves.
